Welcome to the Health Hub

Women

Embarking on a journey towards achieving a healthier weight is a significant decision, one that often involves careful consideration of various options available. For many women, the pursuit of weight loss extends beyond simply losing weight, encompassing broader health goals and fertility considerations.

We recognise the importance of empowering women with knowledge about diverse weight loss strategies and within this section of the health hub, you can find comprehensive information in the form of videos, articles and other useful resources.

FAQs

Our topic expert has answered some of the most common questions we get asked by women when it comes to bariatric surgery. If you need any further information, or other questions answered, please contact enquiries@streamline-surgical.com

Is there a link between obesity and fertility?
You will need to follow a pre-operative diet for at least 2 weeks prior to your weight loss surgery. You will have a discussion with your dietitian prior to your procedure to discuss the best pre-op diet for you. You can find out more about the pre-operative diet in the nutrition section on our health hub.
Currently there is no maximum Body Mass Index (BMI) for weight loss surgery. However, all cases at Streamline are treated differently and we will look into your BMI, lifestyle and health conditions.
The amount of weight you are expected to lose from bariatric surgery will differ depending on the type of weight loss surgery you have and most importantly, you as an individual. On average, a gastric band patient is expected to lose 50% excess weight within the first year, a gastric sleeve patient is expected to lose up to 60% of their excess weight and a gastric bypass patient is expected to lose 70% of their excess weight.
