For as long as I can remember, I’ve been overweight. I have PCOS and have always found it difficult to lose weight, but so easy to gain. I went through two difficult pregnancies and lost a lot of weight during that time.
Soon enough, without changing my habits, I gained it all back—and more—reaching over 19 stone at my heaviest. I’m 36 and a mum of two children, aged 4 and 6. I had tried to lose weight through all sorts of diets but eventually hit a plateau.
The fear of not being able to run around with my kids, fit on rides at the theme park, and feeling exhausted just from walking up the stairs really hit home. I knew I had to change.
Life since surgery is like an awakening within (sounds odd, I know)! I feel like I’ve been gifted another chance for a better life—a life that I can be happy and healthy in, and in a body I can learn to love.
Healthy and happy.
It can be a common misconception that the sleeve itself will do all of the work. It’s allowed me to become more open-minded about food and embrace a lifestyle that I can still enjoy while experiencing new things. The sleeve is a great tool to help you become the person you couldn’t be without it.

Do your research, ask all the questions—no question is stupid—and be open-minded to change. If you aren’t committed to becoming a different version of yourself, the best version of yourself, then you’re not ready for the journey ahead.
It’s a life-changing procedure, and with that comes a different you—emotions you may not have experienced before and body changes you probably didn’t think possible.
There are, however, whole communities of people on TikTok and other platforms documenting their journeys. Reach out and ask questions—it really helped me.
Streamline was recommended to me via Vitality. I had researched alternative UK companies, but their service and ethos just didn’t fit with me. I first spoke with Jonathan, who was amazing—super helpful, informative, talked me through the process, and became my point of contact. I then had my consultation with Ben Knight, who performed the surgery, and I knew as soon as I spoke with him it was the right choice.
10/10! From the initial contact to the surgery and aftercare, I honestly couldn’t point out a single negative or piece of feedback. Every member of the team I’ve spoken with has been great.
Mr Ben Knight was appointed as an NHS consultant surgeon at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth in 2014. Mr Knight specialises in laparoscopic and robotic Oesophago-Gastric and Bariatric surgery.
