Amy's story
For the first time I feel positive and can look beyond obsessing over my weight

I have had weight issues since I was a child. I have tried every diet under the sun from a young age. After countless slimming groups and many other failed attempts at losing weight consistently, I always ended up bigger than when I started.
During lockdown, my mental health really suffered, and my weight hit an all-time high. I became so big that I was unable to properly care for my children, both of whom have additional needs.
I decided enough was enough, and I needed help to shift this weight once and for all.
How was your experience with Streamline?
My experience with Streamline was amazing from start to finish. All of the staff, from the receptionists to my amazing surgeon Dr Aruna Munasinghe, made it the first time I have ever been in hospital and had an operation a truly reassuring experience. They all put me at ease, and the care I received was incredible.
How do you see life in the future?
I am so thankful and, for the first time, looking forward to the future. I feel positive and can finally look beyond obsessing over my weight, the size of my body, and the limitations it always put on me.

How has life been since surgery?
My life since my surgery has completely surpassed any expectations I had. I have successfully lost 18 stone from the start of my 4-week liver-reducing diet until now. I have discovered a thirst for life that I never knew was possible. I have travelled for the first time, done so many amazing things with my children, and they are so happy to have a mum who says yes to so much without having to worry about my size.
Losing weight gave me the confidence to train for my dream job as a Hypnotherapist—something I never would have imagined I could achieve.
I have found a passion for exercise, and it has become such an important part of my life. I am so thankful for the body I have and the ability to move it after a lifetime of obesity.
