Bariatric Dietician at Streamline
Melina qualified as a Dietitian in 2010 with a First Class Honours degree from the University of South Wales Cardiff (UWIC). She also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Sport and Exercise Nutrition and a Post Graduate Diploma in Obesity and Weight Management.
She started her dietetic career in the NHS working in the community in Cardiff, seeing patients in their own homes with a wide variety of clinical conditions and varying nutritional needs. She then specialised in diabetes and weight management, delivering patient education groups in the community and seeing patients in outpatient clinics and in their own homes. She was also involved in medicines management work and was also a British Dietetic Association Trade Union Representative.
In 2017 Melina moved to the private sector specialising as a bariatric surgery dietitian and in 2018 she completed training to enable her extended role as a gastric band adjustment practitioner. Alongside her work in the private sector Melina also took on a bariatric surgery dietitian role in the NHS at the Welsh Institute of Metabolic and Obesity Surgery in Swansea .
Melina is now working full time at Streamline Surgical. She is very passionate about her role and it giver her great job satisfaction to support a client through their weight loss journey and observing the impact of their weight loss in improving their overall quality of life.
