About Greg Jones

Greg is a specialist upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon with extensive experience in laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive surgery.  He works at the Royal Berkshire Foundation NHS Trust (RBH) and has a private practice in Reading at the Ramsay Berkshire Independent Hospital, Spire Dunedin, and Circle hospitals.

Greg graduated from Imperial College in London and completed his higher surgical training in Oxford; following this, he did a Bariatric and Upper GI fellowship in Melbourne.  He is Clinical Lead for General Surgery and one of the lead Bariatric surgeons.  He helped to develop the unit into a level 1 Bariatric centre.  In 2017, he set up the Robotic Surgery programme and in 2023 has introduced endoscopic surgery (ESG) for weight loss.

Greg regularly performs primary surgery and complex revision bariatric surgery, both laparoscopically and using the ‘Da Vinci’ Xi Robotic platform.  He also performs other laparoscopic and robotic surgery procedures including gall bladder surgery, antireflux surgery, and all forms of hernia surgery.

Greg prioritises helping patients to make the right surgical choices and support them before, during and after their operation. He understands the complexities to obesity and the decision to have surgery.

Greg lives in Windsor with his wife and 3 children.  As time allows he likes to play golf and watch football of all levels.
