The oral weight loss pill is a once-daily medication containing semaglutide – the same active ingredient found in the Wegovy weight loss injection. It is the first oral GLP-1 medication specifically approved by the MHRA, for use as an obesity treatment, receiving approval on 11 June 2026.
It works by mimicking a gut hormone that signals fullness to the brain, slowing digestion and significantly reducing appetite.
The Foundayo pill is also a once-daily medication for use of weight loss management. Foundayo contains the active ingredient Orforlipron and shouldn’t be confused as the oral version of Mounjaro, which is also produced by Eli Lilly. Foundayo was approved for the use of obesity management on 10th August 2026.
As a GLP-1 receptor, Foundayo also helps to reduce appetite, slow digestion to keep you feeling fuller for a longer period and regulates your blood sugar levels.
