Throughout my adult life, I struggled with my weight. I would gain weight, lose a few stone, but then put it all back on — often with more. I tried every diet out there, including the so-called ‘skinny jabs’, but as soon as I stopped whatever programme I was following, the weight would return.
Each cycle of losing and regaining weight took a toll on my mental health, and going through early menopause certainly didn’t help either. Over the years, I went for surgery consultations twice (with other providers), but never went ahead — mostly because my family would talk me out of it.
The last straw came during a skiing holiday in January. I had to ask for a seatbelt extender on the plane, which left me mortified. I was also so unfit that I couldn’t enjoy skiing — one of my favourite things to do. I was deeply unhappy and knew I needed a permanent change.
I wanted to take control and change my life. After talking everything through with my family, they supported my decision to go ahead with surgery — which I had in March 2024.
In just one year, I lost 8 stone and 7 pounds, going from a size 22/24 to a comfortable size 12. To say my life has completely changed would be an understatement.
I’m so proud of my progress and so happy with the results — I’ll be forever grateful to the entire Streamline team, the staff, and my surgeon. Everything in my life has improved: my health, my fitness, my ability to exercise (and, shock horror — actually enjoy it!), and most importantly, my relationship with food.
I finally feel in control. Before, I felt like everything revolved around food and I had no say in it. Now, I’m the boss of myself. I’m doing things I had only ever dreamed of.

I see the future as one big adventure! I truly feel like nothing is out of reach for me now. My weight is still coming down, and I’ve set myself a personal goal to lose another 8 pounds — which will take me to 100% excess weight loss.
Even after surgery, knowing I would lose weight, I never imagined it would feel this good or that I would come this far. This journey takes real commitment — not just to the surgery, but to changing your whole lifestyle. But it was a commitment I was more than ready to make.
I will be forever grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way: my surgeon, the incredible Streamline team — including the staff, nurses, and dietitian — as well as my health insurance provider, my employer, and most of all, my family and friends, for giving me the encouragement and love I needed.
I don’t know exactly what the future holds, but I do know it’s going to be good — full of happiness, possibility, and adventure. And I’m going to enjoy every moment of the ride.

My experience with Streamline was outstanding from start to finish. I was booked to have my surgery within a month of making that first phone call.
Everyone was so helpful and explained everything to me. I was sent plenty of information to support me through the pre-op diet and had regular phone calls, along with a psychologist appointment and a health check prior to the operation.
The nurses, staff and my surgeon were all amazing during my stay at the hospital and I received plenty of support after I left too.
I feel really lucky that my experience has been so good, especially when you hear some of the horror stories of people going abroad.
